Why this is not the antivirus you remember
Antivirus is a list. It recognizes attacks someone has already catalogued and blocks them automatically. The problem is that the attacks that actually shut down small offices do not look like a virus. Someone logs in with a password that works, quietly forwards your email to themselves, and waits for an invoice worth stealing. There is no file to scan and nothing on the list.
What we run watches for the behavior instead — a mail rule nobody asked for, one account signing in from two places, a program that starts encrypting files. When something looks wrong, a trained analyst reviews it and acts. Not a pop-up on your receptionist’s screen at 11pm that she has to make a decision about. A person, on duty, who can shut the account off before Monday.
Who is watching, and with what
The detection platform is Huntress, a managed detection and response service with its own security operations center behind it. We deploy it on every computer in your plan — Basic included, not just the larger plans — we see the same alerts their analysts see, and we are the ones who pick up the phone and call you.
Alongside it we run remote monitoring on every managed machine, backup with Veeam, and secure remote access so a technician can work on a computer without driving to your office. On NIT Premium and NIT Enterprise we also configure Microsoft Defender for Office 365, which checks links and attachments in your email before anyone in your office clicks them.

It is almost never a dramatic break-in. It is one email password that someone reused on another website, used quietly to read your mail and wait for a wire transfer or an invoice worth redirecting. By the time anyone notices, the money has moved.
Catching that early is about noticing the small things — a forwarding rule nobody set up, a login from somewhere your staff has never been — which is exactly what gets watched for, every hour of every day.
